The Summer is almost here.....

According to the calendar, summer officially kicks off on June 21st, well in my book, summer kicks off this weekend! It's a time for BBQ's, outdoor movie nights, parks, pool parties and the beach, just thinking of the number of things I could be doing and the planning is making me excited about the summer.
Speaking of BBQ's I am planning one this weekend and trying to decide what accessory to wear as a host to my own BBQ is harder than I thought. I am thinking a bag is not neccesary, but neon hoop earrings, as an ode to summer, or maybe multiple roped bangles would look cute with shorts and a cute top. I haven't decided yet if I should wear shorts or long pants....all depends on the weather and of course ladies, wear wedges! Works best on the grass, heels and sinking are never cute! #epic fail

Ok, so I know I said no bags but this fringed bag would go perfect with the bracelets above. I'll just wear it while grilling....lol. It will be my bag to hold the condiments....Ketchup anyone?

Designer Tuesday: IMEbyJThomas

1)Introduce yourself: What is your name?
Jeannetta Thomas also known as J.Thomas

2) Where are you from? Where are you located?
I am from Montgomery AL and I now reside in Huntsville, AL and I travel world wide for fashion shows and vending opportunities,

3)How did you get started? I am a former Soldier and I was inspired by how people viewed me as always being fashionable outside of my Army uniform, and I liked being different and stylish. I researched the profession and liked what I found. From there I attended Alabama A&M University and took up studies in fashion design and after graduation in Fall 2009 I started designing for others and started my own company called I'Me. Since graduation I took up classes at O'More College of Design in Franklin, TN, and I have been pressing forward with business growth every since.

4)What inspires you to make the designs you do? I get inspired by color and fabric designs. I normally decide what I will design based on what the fabric looks like.

5)Do you ever get designers block? If so, what do you do to get inspiration? I don't think I get designers block. If anything I get stuck in a place where I want to design something but it is new and I am unfamiliar with the process. When that happens I either try doing it anyway using the techniques I do know or I do something completely different.

6)Any plans for the future? I am currently working on getting my clothing designs manufactured since they are becoming more and more popular and in various states where I cannot just up and travel to them. Therefore I need to produce more then I am able to produce on my own.

7)Any word of advice for up and coming designers? The best advice I could give up and coming designers is to invest in their business. You have to spend money to make money and take risk. No one can make you want to push yourself harder than you can. At the end of the day if designer want something to happen they must be willing to put in the work to make it happen. But if nothing else one of the BIGGEST things that designer must do is NETWORKING....it is so important that they network with other designers, bloggers, companies and stylist. It is very true that it is sometime who you know that will help you get your big break.

8)How do the readers get in contact with you or buy your designs? I can be reached easiest via email at jeannetta.thomas@yahoo.com or Design@imebyjthomas.com.  Also my website is very detailed on information for me at www.IMebyJThomas.com

9)Last but not least: What is your accessory personality? I would say is is Odd and bulky. I like things that are different and is a big statement piece.

Thanks for the Interview Jeannetta!

XOXO,

Let the white parties....begin!

It's finally the weekend and I have a few white parties to go to. Did I tell you I love living in Florida? One of the benefits of living in this state is that it is summer time with cool breezes for 360 days in the year minus the 5 days of 40 degree winter weather. Other than that the rest of the time, it's great. I love the fact that the most amount of winter gear I have to wear is a leather jacket and maybe a scarf. Don't get me wrong, I have lived in areas where the winter is so cold that my nose freezes over or I wear so many layers that it literally took me 15 minutes to take it off before I actually relaxed and settled down at home, thus I prefer summer.

But back to the white party, so I am trying to figure out what to wear and found this cute one shoulder white dress at Asos. Ahem....it's so cute it costs over $500...ha! If I were to buy that dress I would literally be standing still all night long and not near anyone drinking eating or dancing. So in other words, I would wear it at home in my living room. lol.

Outfit:

Dress: Asos.com $500
Watch: Asos.com $300
Shoes: Asos.com $180
Earrings: Accesuality.com $15
Bracelet: Accesuality.com  $15

The rose gold watch....LOVE IT! and the nude shoes are cute too; paired with fish bone earrings and a charmed bracelet on Accesuality.com (both items sold out) makes for a great white party outfit!

More great finds.....

Besides the food and culture in Thailand, I enjoyed the accessory shopping in Thailand. On my way over to Thailand I found the cutest bracelets at the Taipai, China airport and bought a few....just couldn't resist.

I also got the following wooden bracelets below from a town in Thailand called Ayutthaya which also has the buddha head stuck in a tree (pictured below). No one knows how it got there but suspects that it was probably chiseled and left there during a storm and eventually grew with the root of the tree and will continue to be raised from the ground the higher the tree goes.

On another note, I have obtained interviews from a few accessory designers that I am excited about featuring on the blog and will probably post a few tomorrow. Also working on updating a few things and also getting ready to update the website for the summer.

Trend Alert: Paisley and Cobalt Blue

When I think of summer the first thing that comes to mind is bright colors, sunny days and BBQs. Apparently, it also includes cobalt blue as the color of the season. Cobalt blue, I am excited about because it is a color that is bright and can be worn with other bright colors such as green or pink or subdued with black.

I actually have a cobalt blue handbag I got a few years ago that I literally threw everything in when I was going shopping, the beach, church, work, you name it, I wore it but that was years before it was the "in" color to wear.  It is a great color to add some pop in your wardrobe or just a little pick me up on a cloudy day. Seriously, everyone noticed the color when I wore it.

The next trend is Paisley. Hmmmmmmm, when I think of Paisley for some reason I think of Parsley, not sure if its because the design seems similar to herb/seasoning or I am currently hungry for some dinner but either way, paisley plays a part this season in handbags and jewelry. Men have always been in the know with Paisley in their suit jacket pockets and the lining in the inside of the jacket. I honestly can say I do not own anything paisley, or maybe I do and I have not noticed it but I don't think so. It kind of reminds me of old men wearing paisley shirts that smell like moth balls....urrrgghhhhhhh. Maybe if I find a really cute paisley bracelet or scarf, I'll change my mind. I'll let you know ;-)

24 hours, 1 boat, 1 bus, 3 planes and swollen feet...Bangkok

Hey hey!

I'm finally back from my trip to Thailand and I had a blast, I even rode an elephant! It was so much fun finding bargains, negotiating prices and just enjoying the food and culture. I had so much fun I took over 800 pics of my friends and I. It was worth  every hour spent on a plane to get there.

One of my main reasons for going over there, besides learning about a different culture, was to gain some insight into the fashion and lifestyle of the Thai people. Thai people are very fashion forward, especially when it comes to accessories. The country besides tourism is the number one distributor of jewelry such as gold and silver. Additionally, they export rubies, and sapphires and have a phletora of jewelry stores throughout the country. I felt like I was in a candy shop. I was uable to take pictures inside the stores since they do not allow pictures, didn't get what that was about, but I did make some purchases and will take pics and post on the site.

Thailand is also known for its beautiful temples and the grand palace, the former residence of the King. I was able to visit most of the temples and the infamous buddha head in the tree. I posted a few pics of my experience but will be posting pics of my accessory finds and all the food I ate in a few.

XOXO

Designer Tuesday: David Yurman

On one of my many excursions abroad, I went to Barcelona, Spain and found this David Yurman inspired bracelet at a Barcelona market place. As shown in the pictures above and below. I seriously was not looking for anything that looked like a designer bracelet or inspired by a designer. When I go shopping, I typically look at the style and make of the bracelet and whether it is a good buy, especially as a souvenir for friends.
David Yurman is American designer of jewelry for men and women and is sold in approximately 18 David Yurman boutiques across 10 states.David Yurman began his trade as a sculpture, selling his designs in high school and at the early age of 16 was introduced to Cuban welder and sculptor Enesto Gonzales.

In 1982, David Yurman introduced his signature, a twisted helix cable bracelet with gemstones on its ends. Other notable collections include Silver Ice, the Buckle Collection (pictured below) and the X collection. His collection prices range from $450 to $32,000. Yeah, $32,000, that was not a typo.

To view more of David's collection, go to www.DavidYurman.com

So what do you think? Was my find a good buy?....

What is your Accessory Personality? ...Bohemian Chic

There are just some days I want to sling my bag on my back and keep it moving. You know the feeling when you want to be able to navigate the day with your hands free and be able to hold as many bags as possible without your wallet weighing you down as an extra bag. And that is what this bag accomplishes.

This bag is perfect for those shopping trips when on vacation and you have your negotiating nancy hat on, or hanging with friends for the day. Seriously, I picture myself with this bag on a trip in the jungle and ,WHOOSH, whipping out my bug spray or sunscreen. Or walking through the leather market in Florence, Italy, ready to shop till your wallet has battle scars....lol

The bag above would best be described as Bohemian Chic, because the Chic wearing this bag is definetely not wearing it out of convenience but because she is on a mission.

It may be found on our shopping site: http://www.accesuality.com/, for $30,in the handbags/fashion section and it is called: "Busy Bee".

Enjoy!

XOXO

Who gone check me Boo?!?!

Time and Time again, when I go out with my friends, we always check out what the other person is wearing and not only because we like the outfit but because we want to make sure there isn't someone in our group that looks a hot mess! So what's up with these other girl friends that go out!? I have seen it all and wondered why some women don't tell their friends that the outfit DOES NOT go together OR that the outfit is just not for their body type. It makes me wonder that maybe the reason no one tells the friend that her outfit is socially challenged is because a) they told her already and she completely ignores her friend's advice, b) they picked her up and didn't see what she was wearing before she got outside, or c)they are some real mean friends and figure the worst she looks the better for them. Who knows??? But I think every girl needs a friend that would literally say:No, or go back and change, real quick! So the next time you go out and you ladies are checking each other out or looking in the mirror shout: "Who gonna check me Boo?!".

Clothes and shoes can be found on asos.com, and accessories can be found on accesuality.com

In honor of St. Patty's day and Spring, the outfit above is perfect for backyard parties or bar hopping with friends. I understand green would have been the color of choice for St. Patty's day but a diva never follows the crowd neither the trend, so wear a different pop of color instead. Also the chained cuff and silver triangle necklace can be worn to dress up this casual outfit and set you apart from the crowd of people out enjoying the night. The accessories may be found in the diva collection of Accesuality at www.accesuality.com
